Is the world nearing an all out nuclear war?
Secret phonecalls in June and July between the US and Russia had the aim to avoid the worst case scenario that can happen when the war in Ukraine spins out of control.
In the meanwhile European governments warned in a letter to major companies they better prepare for big havoc.
The phone calls took place after Russia first sent an urgent warning signal of importance to Western leaders.
Government sources in the US and Russia disclosed that US Minister of Defense and United States Army four-star general Lloyd Austin plus other US defense chiefs spoke on the phone twice with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.
The talks initiated by Russia took place after an alarming message was sent to the US and a number of other important Western leaders about preventing escalation of the tensions and to avoid a nuclear catastrophe.
RT (Russia Today) wrote that the calls were focused on “preventing security threats and reducing the risk of potential escalation”
The leaders also exchanged their views on the situation around Ukraine.
US officials confirmed that both conversations basically were about the importance of maintaining contacts amid the Ukraine conflict and avoid all out nuclear war.
As far as we know, European leaders were not involved in direct talks with Russia.
The European Commission refrains from talking to Russia. This is something new because even during the darkest days of the cold war there was communication.
Silence is the language of the stupids. Only idiots do not communicate.
We all saw what happened after Mr. Viktor Orban’s visit to the Russian President. Complete isolation. It is an outrage and completely insane.
Countries are better off not to join the block with their back-room wheeling, dealing and not to forget fake President.
In the long run, I believe, the block is not sustainable and will sooner or later come to an end.
It is fundamentally wrong, unacceptable and a disgrace to isolate unwelcome political movements.
If democracy in Europe is to weak and unable coping with different opinions than it’s time to dissolve.
