Let’s go for the nuclear option
We are close to Energy Armageddon as worldwide and with an unprecedented speed “green energy” takes over from fossil fuel.
The problem with solar and wind energy is that these resources are mostly available at the wrong place and the wrong time.
This causes overloaded grids and shortages as demand is often high while nature fails to produce. As nuclear fusion is way too far, the only way to go round is the old school uranium/ plutonium based nuclear power.
It is about time to set emotions aside and invest in modern nuclear facilities.
How unimaginable it is that in Germany and Belgium still usable nuclear reactors are on the verge of closing down. As gas runs tight and natural sources are disruptive, it is an unresponsable policy.
In many countries, the energy security is at stake. In the United Kingdom the National Grid operator is paying customers to turn off tumble dryers and electric ovens. Can you believe it?
Politicians should be aware that it is a no go area to charge electric cars alongside heat pump systems, solar panels and wind energy production. The grid can’t handle.
Energy firms encourage their customers to use smart meters. It will barely alter the energy demand. A smart meter is only effective as usage violation fine comes with it.
On the other hand, I believe smart meters are only good for governments to control citizens and in a worse case scenario prohibit customers using electricity during dedicated time frames. As it is already happening in the UK.
A smart meter makes it very easy to penalize customers as policing energy firms can read immediately energy usage violations.
To avoid an energy crunch, governments have no other option as to act now and speed up projects to build nuclear power plants. At the end of the day, state security is at stake when politicians refrain from taking the required nuclear steps.
Give investors a boost to act now by creating long term confidence in government policies.
Luckily many countries are preparing new nuclear facilities but big concern about the pace remains.
Nuclear power is the Holy Grail. It provides a low-carbon, stabil, output and is a baseload power source not dependent on either the weather or unfavorable geopolitical changes.
Mind the energy gap and go nuclear. Now.
