The Unconscious Anti Christ
We still have a choice as it comes to decide using AI for the good or bad. But what if AI systems become completely independent able to survive without human interference or even worse become defensive and conscious.
The current Large Language Models (LLMs) are far from conscious.
Non believers (people that do not accept the divine origin of life) do not rule out that a conscious experience can emerge from digital computation in the same way it does from biological brains. On the contrary, I believe, no, I am convinced that consciousness is a gift from God.
Compared to what it will be within just a few years from today, AI is still in its early stages. Full of glitches and many times unable to correct faulty input immediately. But this will end soon. Next generation AI has all ingredients to spin out of control while being able to improve and even defend itself.
Today’s AI systems are trained by feeding curated data into algorithms to recognize patterns and optimizing performance through iterative testing.
Outsiders not having access to AI coding can inject data in the AI playing field and manipulate results. But it’s a lot of work. You have participate in widely recognized credible sources to spread the message and alter the database.
Traditional SEO approaches in Google already stopped working as the search engine’s behavior is overruled by AI.
Developments are getting fast. It is in sight that AI systems will be completely stand alone, able to repair incorrect information and fix decisive errors. The capability to improve and defend it selves will presumably open the gates of a digital hell.
Quantum computers (we are still awaiting the birth of the first real one) will undoubtedly create an eerie situation. Super fast switching digital monsters sidelining humans of flesh and blood.
We are talking about entering an era in which nothing will be safe. Society is nearing a situation in which it is virtual impossible to protect data systems e.g. bank apps, ID’s, medical data against intrusion, theft and manipulation.
To cure the problem, protection and defense against nasty AI systems on highest levels are required. It ultimately will be a higher level fight between AI and AI. A doomsday race as never seen on the planet before.
In the human body we have the, based on medieval science, vaccines that do the work by imitating a pathogen using weakened, killed, or partial germs to teach the immune system to recognize and fight a specific disease without causing the disease itself. On IT level the trick is getting violent AI derailed by injecting manipulated information on highest IT levels.
It is with good reason that many see artificial intelligence as an existential threat to humanity. Super intelligent systems are already unaligned with human values.
Beside mass unemployment there is the risk of dangerous bias, autonomous weapons, loss of control over decision-making, and societal disruption.
We are just a few years away from the moment AI explodes into super intelligence and might take over politics, courts and security. Just like in the Star Trek series, a self defending computer ruling an alien world. That system ended up in smoke and fire.
Star Trek computers are no longer fiction but a looming reality.
Realize that computing is based on switches, binary codes without nerves and emotions. Consciousness is a gift from God.
IT can imitate it but never create.
